The Biggest Loser: The One With All the Puking

Episode one of The Biggest Loser. The episode started off introducing the viewers to everyone there. Read after the jump for each person, their weight, how they placed, general comments. All that great stuff you're probably reading this for. They then, as always, had to do a challenge to actually get on the ranch. That would suck, doing everything I'm sure you have to do to get all ready, and then not get in. But I digress. The first challenge was to run a 40 yard dash and the first four teams to cross would be on the show. After that, the second round was to do a puzzle in the center of the 40 yard dash and put it together, then run back and press a button to check it, and run the 40 yard dash. The first 4 teams were on the show. Last, the last two teams would stand on a barrel, holding each other, and the first team to fall off are off the show. After that, they get to choose their trainers. Of course, Bob is the favorite, but every now and then you see someone that wants Dolvett. Here's the big twist of the show though: instead of staying with their partner they came with, they're splitting into trainer teams down the middle. One person from a team will be on one trainer's team, the other person on the other trainer's team. Obviously, the contestants are less than thrilled. After they get over it, they split into the Red Team by Dolvett and the Black Team by Bob. Then they go to the weigh-in to check everyone's percentages and someone goes home from the losing team, except the person with the highest weight loss. Okay. Onto the specifics now.

Bob's Black Team

Ben- Brother of Buddy. Started off on the brown team, but chose Bob. He and his brother Buddy went to the doctor this week because they were the biggest pair of contestants, and both had multiple health problems. He seemed very upset about Buddy's heart problems, and seems very devoted to his wife and children. He lives in a little bit of a Brady Bunch: 4 kids of his own, 4 kids from his wife, 1 together and 1 on the way. That's a lot of kids. His brown team finished third in the first challenge. After his black team loses, he asks to go home, even though Megan should go home for poor performance. He apparently misses those lots of kids. In his at-home video, it shows he has lost a total of 50 lbs, and is planning to lose more. He's playing with his kids a lot, so that helps getting him moving. That's really great. Staring weight: 396 lbs. Ending weight: 381 lbs. Episode weight loss: -15 lbs. Weight loss total: -15 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.78% Team place (based on percentage): 3rd.

Cassandra- Granddaughter of Nancy. Started off on the orange team, but chose Bob. She said she had always been a Bob girl and Nancy though Dolvett was a fox and a half, so that worked out. She was the only person that seemed to accept the split up of her and her grandmother. She finished second in the first challenge. Starting weight: 239 lbs. Ending weight: 225 lbs. Episode weight loss: -14 lbs. Weight loss total: -14 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 5.86% Team place (based on percentage): 1st.

Chism- Son of Mark. Started off on the gray team, but it was obvious early on that his dad would stick with Dolvett and he would be with Bob. At 19, he is the youngest contestant on Biggest Loser this season. Apparently he has knee problems, as his dad said, but I haven't seen anything problematic yet. We'll see it soon I'm sure though. After his dad pulled his hamstring in the first challenge, he took first place in the second challenge. Staring weight: 361 lbs. Ending weight: 349 lbs. Episode weight loss: -12 lbs. Weight loss total: -12 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.32% Team place (based on percentage): 7th.

Christine- Married to Roy. Started off on the red team, but Roy said she wanted him to have Dolvett's body, so she is with Bob. She's 20 years younger than Roy, which surprised me. She seemed unhappy about the split up, but she seemed like she was worried about Roy's codependency issues? Way to call your husband out. After losing the first challenge, her red team comes in second in the second challenge. Also, I know this is all about splitting people up, but during the week when they're not with a trainer, you can't tell me they don't workout together. I would workout with my partner. You want your team to win, but you don't want your partner to go home. So I'm not a fan of the twist. Sorry to get on my soapbox on her blurb. Starting weight: 240 lbs. Ending weight: 232 lbs. Episode weight loss: -8 lbs. Weight loss total: -8 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.33% Team place (based on percentage): 6th.

Emily- Stranger to Kim. Started off on the pink team, but she felt more connected with Bob, so there you go. I'm curious why they paired up the strangers. Someone must have backed out at the last minute is all I got. They seemed bonded quickly though, just to be ripped apart. Them, along with the aqua team, were in the third challenge and they emerged victorious. She was an Olympic Weightlifter. I bet she does well, having that drive. She's also very pretty, so I hope she is still around at makeover time. Starting weight: 264 lbs. Ending weight: 254 lbs. Episode weight loss: -10 lbs. Weight loss total: -10 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: Team place (based on percentage): 3rd.

Gail- Mother of Lauren. Started off on the yellow team, but she liked Bob better. Hilarious moment where Lauren tries to teach her how to do Rock Paper Scissors. Her daughter came in fourth at the first challenge. She was worried once Megan did her heartfelt plea to not go home, since she was next to last in percentages. It felt nice to have an older contestant plead to not go home. I get tired of the parent laying down their Biggest Loser life for their child. But I guess my mother and father would do that too. But she was saved by Ben too, so she's here to stay. Starting weight: 322 lbs. Ending weight: 313 lbs. Episode weight loss: -9 lbs. Weight loss total: -9 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 2.8% Team place (based on percentage): 8th.

Jeremy- Sister to Conda. Started off on the green team, but chose Bob. He was really mad about the split up. Him and his sister are only a year apart, so I bet they're really close. However, his sister totally came off as a whiner in this episode. I'd wine too, I'm just saying, that's not a good trait to have. Hopefully he'll be stronger without her on his team. They came in fourth on the second challenge, racing to the finish line right ahead of the pink team.  Starting weight: 389 lbs. Ending weight: 376 lbs. Episode weight loss: -13 lbs. Weight loss total: -13 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.34% Team place (based on percentage): 5th.

Joe- Brother of Mike. Started off on the blue team, but they flipped a "coin" and he won, so he got Bob. I thought that was pretty smart, flipping a weight as a coin. I would've done that too. Or done a treadmill competition for Bob. Just kidding. Wouldn't have done that. They weren't in the episode very much, but both did seemingly well on the first week. Their team won first place in the first challenge. Starting weight: 357 lbs. Ending weight: 342 lbs. Episode weight loss: -15 lbs. Weight loss total: -15 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 4.2% Team place (based on percentage): 2nd.

Megan- Daughter of Kimmy. Started off on the purple team, but successfully won Rock Paper Scissors for Bob. They stayed off the radar in the first week, coming in second during the second challenge to get onto the ranch. However, Megan did the worse this week, getting the lowest percentage on the losing team. She thought she was going home and begged to be saved. Ben ultimately sacrificed himself, but I hope she realizes how close she was to going home. She better work harder next week. Starting weight: 259 lbs. Ending weight: 252 lbs. Episode weight loss: -7 lbs. Weight loss total: -7 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 2.3% Team place (based on percentage): 9th.

So that ends Bob's team. The team ultimately lost 103 lbs combined, which is 3.64% of their combined weight. Dolvett's team would need to lose more than 94 lbs combined to win, as you know they already did.

Dolvett's Red Team

Buddy- Brother of Ben. Started off on the brown team, but chose Dolvett. His team came in third in the first challenge, earning their spot on the ranch. The biggest thing with him this week was his trip to the doctor. After doing a heart scan, they saw where he had massive plaque buildup and needs to lose substantial amounts of weight in order to decrease that. He is also the heaviest person on the ranch. Starting weight: 403 lbs. Ending weight: 381 lbs. Episode weight loss: -22 lbs. Weight loss total: -22 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 5.46% Team place (based on percentage): 1st.

Conda- Sister of Jeremy. Started off on the green team, but let her brother pick a trainer, so she got Dolvett. They almost lost the second challenge, racing to the end with the pink team. But they made it and so did the pink team, so it all worked out. My only opinion of her is that she seems like she is going to have an attitude and complain a lot. She also quits easily. Hopefully Dolvett can break that. Starting weight: 294 lbs. Ending weight: 285 lbs. Episode weight loss: -9 lbs. Weight loss total: -9 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.06% Team place (based on percentage): 8th.

Kim- Stranger to Emily. Started off on the pink team, but connected with Dolvett more. Her and Emily won the final challenge, standing on the barrel the longest. I've already voiced my confusion about pairing strangers, so no need to revisit that. She use to be a professional wrestler and was in super great shape, but broke her back in the ring and has gained a lot of weight since then. She seems very strong and driven, so I'm sure she'll do fine. Starting weight: 252 lbs. Ending weight: 239 lbs. Episode weight loss: -13 lbs. Weight loss total: -13 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 5.16% Team place (based on percentage): 2nd.

Kimmy- Mother of Megan. Started off on the purple team, but after losing Rock Paper Scissors, she was with Dolvett. Her and Megan won their place on the ranch after finishing third in the second challenge. I appreciate her changing her name so I don't have to be confused. She seems like she's working hard and letting Dolvett push her. Good plan. Starting weight: 219 lbs. Ending weight: 210 lbs. Episode weight loss: -9 lbs. Weight loss total: -9 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 4.11% Team place (based on percentage): 4th.

Lauren- Daughter of Gail. Started off on the yellow team, but let her mom take Bob. Thank goodness for that, or Dolvett's team would all be the older people of each couple. She tried to get her mom to play Rock Paper Scissors, but her mom wasn't for that. She came in fourth in the first challenge, guaranteeing her spot of the ranch. I think her and Conda were bonding, so hopefully they can push each other. I think it may not be that type of relationship, which is unfortunate. She's also very pretty and I hope she sticks around for awhile to get to makeover week. Starting weight: 246 lbs. Ending weight: 237 lbs. Episode weight loss: -9 lbs. Weight loss total: -9 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.66% Team place (based on percentage): 5th.

Mark- Father of Chism. Started off on the gray team, but it was pretty clear after Dolvett was pushing him through his hamstring injury that he would stick with him. He tried to run the 40 yard dash but tripped and pulled his hamstring, so his son had to do the second challenge and came in first. He did a good weight loss job this week though, but I hope he can figure out an answer to his hamstring problem before they have to send him home. I do have one question for him though - who made the decision to name your child Chism of all things? Starting weight: 291 lbs. Ending weight: 282 lbs. Episode weight loss: -9 lbs. Weight loss total: -9 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.09% Team place (based on percentage): 7th.

Mike- Brother of Joe. Started off on the blue team, but loss the "coin" toss and got Dolvett. The blue team came in first in the first challenge, which was a good way to start it off. Him and Joe weren't in the competition much, except Conda saying she didn't like him for cheering for her brother. I'm sure they all cheered for their partner, so whatever on that. Starting weight: 358 lbs. Ending weight: 345 lbs. Episode weight loss: -13 lbs. Weight loss total: -13 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 3.63% Team place (based on percentage): 6th.

Nancy- Grandmother of Cassandra. Started off on the orange team, but loved Dolvett from last season and chose him. She likes the way he looks. So do I, Nancy, so do I. Her granddaughter came in second on the first challenge. She seems like a nice lady. She has 13 children and 50+ grandchildren! The only problem is she doesn't seem like she's willing to really push herself and work, so unless that changes, I don't see her staying long. She probably came as a sacrificial lamb for her granddaughter, but she's got to do the work herself now. I really hope she does it. Older people need to get in shape too. Starting weight: 217 lbs. Ending weight: 212 lbs. Episode weight loss: -5 lbs. Weight loss total: -5 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 2.3% Team place (based on percentage): 9th.

Roy- Married to Christine. Started off on the red team, but accepted that Christine wanted his body to look like Dolvett's, so he's working with him. He seems like he's drinking the red koolaid though, and is glad about how Dolvett is pushing him and is, in turn, pushing his team members. Him and Christine came in second in the second challenge to get on the ranch. Oh. And he looks like Santa Claus. Did I mention that? I'd adore for him to stay til makeover week, because I bet they'd cut the beard and he'd look completely different. Starting weight: 306 lbs. Ending weight: 292 lbs. Episode weight loss: -14 lbs. Weight loss total: -14 lbs. Percentage of weight loss: 4.58% Team place (based on percentage): 3rd.

And so ends Dolvett's team. They also lost 103 lbs, but since their overall weight is lower by almost 300 lbs, their percentage was higher - 3.98%. That just makes Bob want to win the second weigh-in even more. I think I'm rooting for the Red Team, but I like a few people on the Black Team a lot. And because they have the chance to come back, I'll do a blurb on the last two.

Adrian and Dalphne- Brother and Sister. Started off on the Aqua team. Unfortunately, Dalphne moved her foot on the last challenge, taking them out of the show. However, as always, they have a chance to come back. They have one month to lose 50 lbs combined, and if they do it, they can come back. If that isn't enough motivation, I don't know what is. We'll see in a few episodes if they make it.

The gold star of the episode goes to Roy. He one of the oldest contestants, but did a great weight loss job for the week. He really bought into what they're trying to do there, and is ready to follow Dolvett into battle. Also, he passed out on the first day, but kept fighting throughout the episode to get good weight loss numbers. Oh. And he looks like Santa Claus. That's reason enough.
