The Biggest Loser: The One With the Dumb Bet

Episode Two of The Biggest Loser! It starts with Alison telling them that the person on the winning team with the highest percentage of weight loss will get to choose a person from the other team to give immunity to. She then asks for volunteers. The red team's leaders are Kim and Kimmy. Black team is Emily and Joe. They walk into a room with a gambling table. To make a long story short - they have to bet how much they think their team will lose this week, and whoever bets the highest, forcing the other team to fold, has to lose that much weight this week. If they do, the other team gets a 5 point disadvantage. If they don't do it, the other team gets a 5 point advantage. Red team immediately bets 3.8 percent, which is 94 pounds. Black team folds. Kim and Kimmie think they'll do it, while Joe and Emily really don't think they will. As they keep saying, 94 pounds for week 2 is pretty much impossible. I think that wasn't the smartest bet but maybe that will give them the motivation they need.

Joe and Mike were visited by the doctor to discuss the dangers of sleep apnea and using tobacco. Sleep apnea really messes with all your bodily functions, and tobacco is not only bad for your body, but chewing tobacco has a lot of sugar in it to improve the taste.

Next, Rachel, the nutritionist, comes to teach them about what foods to eat. I won't bore you with the details, but she takes them to the grocery store to give them better alternatives to things like frozen pizza and salad dressing. She also visits the aqua team in Chicago to help them in their 50 pound goal. I really hope they do it. If that doesn't motivate someone, I don't know what will.

First challenge time! The black team and red teams are taken to a dock area and see a big wheel they have to turn. They have to turn the wheel to pull in the puzzle pieces that they later have to put together. Then, they have to go back to the wheel and pull the puzzle up. The first team to finish wins the Biggest Loser Meal Plan (kind of like NutriSystem, case you didn't know) for 6 months. The challenge stays extremely close the entire race, with the black team emerging victorious by literally a second. I think both teams tried really hard and gave it their all.

Now, last chance workout. Bob gets mad at Dolvett for taking his exercises. Yeah. That's legitimate. Whatever. He's just mad. Mike seems to be having some internal blocking about giving his all. Dolvett talks to him about it, and he shares that he feels abandoned by his brother for his new team. I hadn't thought about that, but I could see that. Especially for someone that already has abandonment issues, as Mike shares he does. Gail also seems to be giving up, but Bob continues to ride her.

Weigh in time! Red Team's up first.

With their extra 5 pounds, they are the winner. Chris gets the highest percentage, so she gives immunity to Roy. Now Roy and Mark (who has the highest percentage) can't be eliminated. Kim thinks she may go home, but Mike's lack of trying in the last chance workout and his arguments with Conda are not helping his situation. Everyone votes for him to leave, and that's the last we see of Mike. He says by the finale, he will be 150 lbs lighter and nicotine free. As always, I wish him nothing but luck. Especially with quitting dip. He's in for a long road.

The gold star of the week goes to Kim. Even though she didn't lose much weight, she had faith in her team from the beginning, and by all indications, worked her booty off this week. I'm sure next week will be better. I also admire how she volunteered for being a leader automatically, unlike some of the others who purposefully flew under the radar. Side note, Chism was really close. He did a great job powering through workouts and put up a good number. But Kim is the winner for this week.
